A wee trip

Posted on Sunday Dec 13 12:50:00 UTC 2009
Yes, it's getting cold in the Scottish Hightlands at the moment, but the cold and crisp days in Glenfinnan bring some incredible photo opportunities.

I was dragged from bed by Billy at 7.30am the other morning to watch the sunrise.  Clothes over pyjamas we walked up the hill behind the visitors' centre at the monument.

It was spectacular.  The loch was frozen and crusty at the edges and the mist lifted off the water like dancing spectres.  The light came up and painted the tips of the surrounding hills orange, and the air was so still and fresh.

While Billy got busy with his camera, I took a pew and made the most of the time away from painting and scraping. As he turned to speak to me he stopped and beckoned.  Behind us was a stag on a rocky outcrop giving us his best pose.  It fair made my day.

The bacon rolls after never tasted so good.
